The Samsung Galaxy S5 was launched last year i.e. in April 2014 and featured as the new upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S series. It’s becoming a trend among smartphone manufacturers to launch fresh versions of the same smartphones every year and Samsung has been pulling this off perfectly with their ‘S’ series.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 features a 5.1 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that provides a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The display has enabled multi-touch while houses a 432 ppi rich screen. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked to a 2.5 GHz Krait 400 Quad-core processor and a 2GB RAM.
The phone runs on Android OS version 4.4.2 (KitKat), with the help of TouchWiz UI skin. The phone comes with a 16/32 GB internal memory, while the memory can be expanded to 128 GB by its users using the MicroSD card slot is provided in the phone. The 16 MP rear camera provided in the phone is assisted by an LED flashlight, while the front shooter is provided with 2MP. HD video recording is also done by the camera at frames like 2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps, and 720p@120fps. The design of this phone feels just like the copy paste of various other Samsung smartphones and provides a sense of monotony when using the phone. One of the only visible changes in the design is the waterproof enclosure provided on the phone, which also constitutes a flap cover over the USB port. The phone is handy with its dimensions as 5.59 x 2.85 x 0.32 inches. Weighing 145 grams, the phone is not that heavy. The 2800 Li-Po mAh battery provided in the phone promises a stand-by time up to 390 hours and a talk time up to 21 hours.
The best part of the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone is that it offers a complete smartphone experience, not only being water resistant and having a powerful processor this phone also features a heart rate and fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor is docked with the home button and allows finger detection of max three users. The heart rate sensor is not that accurate and one has to adjust their finger a lot to get some result. The camera provided in the phone works impressively as images captured by it are full of colours and originality. The phone also records 4K videos which again is impressive. The TouchWiz UI provided in the phone looks colourful and has a lot of software tweaks. If the phone was launched having a revamped design and User Interface then it would have been even more successful in the market.
The Phone finds stiff competition from Apple iPhone 5S and Sony Xperia C4 Dual. When compared to iPhone 5S, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has more MP of camera and excess RAM, while compared to Xperia C4 Dual, it has a fingerprint scanner and fantastic camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is one of the best smartphone that is available in the market, with its prices slashed and advanced feature it certainly qualifies as one of the most eligible smartphone to buy right now.
