EXPERT REVIEWS

The LG Spirit was launched in February 2015 and featured as the cheapest reincarnation of the more expensive LG G4. With its curvy design and stylish body, it is sure to have high aesthetic appeal. Let’s see if this phone delivers what it promises on papers.
The LG Spirit features a 4.7-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen that provides a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The display has enabled multi-touch while protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset clocked to Quad-core 1.2 GHz processor, and backed by 1GB RAM.
The phone runs on Android OS version 5.0.1 (Lollipop), with the help of LG’s heavily customized UI skin. The phone comes with 8GB internal memory while the memory can be expanded up to 32GB using the MicroSD card slot provided in the phone. The 8 MP rear camera provided in the phone is assisted by an LED flashlight while the front shooter is provided with 1MP. HD video recording is also done by the camera at frames like 1080p@30fps. With the use of high-quality plastic and precision machines, LG, has truly made a very aesthetic device, which in no way gives a low-quality look. The phone seems to have taken design cues from LG G4 and provides for a very comfortable grip.
The phone is handy, with its dimensions as 5.25 x 2.60 x 0.39 inches. Weighing 124.4 grams, the phone feels like a feather when used. The 2100mAh battery provided in the phone promises a stand-by time up to 591 hours on 3G networks.
The display is great, and the color reproduction is good too. The viewing angles and sunlight legibility are also quite good. The LG’s customized UI running on the phone makes sure that you feel its presence. LG has added a ‘Knock Mode’ in the software that lets the device wake up with just a few taps made on the screen. The processor seems to take a toll if heavy apps are used side by side, as the device tends to become sluggish. The camera provided in this phone captures decent pics in broad daylight, but the same can’t be said for the images clicked in dim light conditions, as they tend to show excessive bleeding and fails to capture much detail. The battery provided in the phone works okay, and you could get to use the phone for the complete day with light to moderate usage.
LG Spirit finds stiff competition from Lenovo K3 Note and Huawei Honor 4X. When compared to Lenovo K3 Note, the LG Spirit has a better design, while comparing to Huawei Honor 4X, LG Spirit has better speakers and UI.
The LG Spirit is one of the best smartphone for users searching for a decent looking value for money smartphone. If you are a big fan of LG’s stance towards Android and love their design values, then this phone is the one to go for.
