The Lenovo A7000 was launched in April 2015 and focused entirely to capture the affordable smartphone market segment. The phone features an HD display, long battery life and a powerful processor while also became the world's first phone to feature Dolby Atmos.
The Lenovo A7000 features a 5.5 inches IPS capacitive touch screen that provides a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The display is protected by Asahi's Dragontrail glass which protects it from scratch and smudges. The phone is powered by an entry level Mediatek MT6752M chipset clocked to a 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 Octa-core processor and a 2GB RAM.
The phone runs on Android OS version 5.0.0 (Lollipop) with the help of Lenovo’s Vibe UI. The phone comes with an 8GB of internal memory, which is expandable upto 32 GB. The 8 MP rear camera is assisted by a Dual-LED flashlight, while the front camera is of 5MP.
The phone has curved edges and is made entirely of high quality plastic and similar in design with its smaller sibling Lenovo A6000. A matte finish is provided in the back panel of the phone that provides a fine grip. The phone is hefty with its dimensions as 6.01 x 3.00 x 0.31 inches and so cannot be used by one hand. Weighing 140 grams, the phone is not that heavy. The 2900 mAh Li-Po battery provided in the phone promises a stand-by time up to 264 hours and a talk time up to 16 hours on 3G networks.
The processor provided in the phone is very powerful, as heavily encoded videos are played smoothly. High end games are played without any lag whatsoever as the Mali-T760MP2 GPU works well. The Vibe UI that runs on the phone offers a range of customization options and does not feature an app drawer. The Battery works surprisingly well and lives up to its expectation. The speaker provided in the handset works great, but the much touted Dolby Atmos audio enhancement works mediocrely and doesn’t live up to its hype. The camera produces decent images in daylight, but the picture quality takes a nose dive in dim lighting conditions.
The Phone competes with Gionee Marathon M3 and Huawei Honor 4C. When compared to Gionee Marathon M3, the Lenovo A7000 has better RAM and in comparison to Honor 4C, it’s available at a lesser price tag.
The Lenovo A7000 is the best smartphone for users searching for a pure value for money smartphone. The set offers a power packed experience with good battery life, thus making it ideal for users who like to entertain themselves while travelling.
